Building Blocks

Having developed a love of isometric maps and the frustration of converting 2D to 3D, I am making Photoshop layers of props to use in hand drawn maps - I've also created a 3D spiral staircase that can fit on top of itself and be modular - short cuts that will hopefully pay off.

Here's a sample of the stairs in a rudimentary dungeon - hopefully the hand drawn quality still comes through.

Your Faerie Godmother is in the house

A quick preview of the new patron, Gloriana, Faerie Godmother, from The Revelation of Mulmo.
Available soon - ish!
Many of the faerie folk take a sidelong interest in human affairs.
Often, this interest lasts but for an encounter, but sometimes a
faerie becomes interested in mortals for their entire lifetimes,
which is still a fleeting interest in the aeons-long existence of the
fae. Such a creature is Gloriana, who sometimes aids Wizards
and Elves, and has become the godmother of several mortal
children - both with, and without, a formal Patron Bond spell.
A mortal with Gloriana as a Faerie Godmother, but who is not
actually magically bonded to her, cannot cast Invoke Patron, but
such a relationship may explain an unusually high Luck score!
Gloriana, when she appears, comes either in the form of a faerie
queen – tall, regal, and impeccably dressed – or in the form of
a wizened old grand-dame hobbling on a black cane. Indeed,
many of her godchildren are unaware that “Grandma Glory” is
a powerful Faerie Lord. For all that Gloriana means well, faerie
folk are most often on the side of Chaos, or Neutral at best, and
her help sometimes backfires as random chaotic elements creep
in. The more powerful the aid she gives, the greater the chance
that something will backfire.

Gloriana’s ceremony must take place in the near vicinity of a
new-born infant. Once the infant is even three months old, it is
too late, and a younger child must be sought out.

Whirlwinds at Shinobi 27 Games

Well this is the first chance I've had to post an updates on what's been going on at Shinobi 27 since 2016. So here goes:

Four books are underway at the moment with the hopes that two will be released in the first half of this year. Two are written or partially written by Daniel Bishop.

The first is the print version of The Revelation of Mulmo (ROM). Like AD&BB, this will only be available in print but also like AD&BB: EOE, ROM has been expanded with new art and new patron information.

In fact, there is a completely new patron, Gloriana, Faerie Godmother included. ROM, was originally conceived as a companion adventure to AD&BB, so once again I will be reaching out to the original backers to see if they want the adventure at cost. More news on this to come.

Next we have the long awaited (by me) sequel to The Trolls of Mistwood. Curse of Mistwood has been slowly gestating for over two years now and it is a BIG adventure. At present it sits at around 30,000 words and is still being completed. But it is close to completion and I will be sending out a call soon for playtesters. As a reward, I will be offering a free final print copy to each playtesting Judge.

With a huge menagerie of new monsters and a story that expands and builds on The Trolls of Mistwood, Curse of Mistwood pits the adventurers against the Methuselah of Wartaren, who threatens not only the village of Mistwood but the adventurer's entire world.

Co-authored by Daniel Bishop and myself, I am very proud of what this adventure is becoming. A lot of art and ideas are still flowing to make this the best it can be.

Also on the horizon is a new Patrons book - a supplement to go along with AD&BB. I can't say too much about this one but author, James Pozenel has been pouring his heart and soul into this book - I hope we don't need to venture into the Abyss to retrieve those...

The final book this year is a new adventure designed to introduce players to the campaign city of Claeridge Pass. I have some new writers working on this setting. The timetable for this is not yet set but hopefully by the close of 2017.

Lastly, make sure you grab yourself a copy of Mystic Bull's print release of DAMN magazine - it's full of OSR, DCC, RPG, meaty goodness - new content and art aplenty. It will be coming soon and editor, Paul Wolfe, is looking for contributors for issues 2 and beyond!

Cheers till next time,
David Fisher.
